Present technology allows people to replace even their teeth with very convincing substitutes. If you need one, get one.

We all want to look our best for whatever may be the reason. We want to look good for the significant other, for the crowd, for our parents, or for the boss. Now it does not really matter for what reason we want to look good, but that we do.

Many people consider changing their hairstyles, some try on different kinds of makeup and yet others consider getting piercings on various parts of their body to enhance their appeal to others.

A person’s own self is the most important part of the equation when it comes to looking good. You actually just want to feel good about yourself and what people think about you always actually comes second or later.

You want to know that you look good and you want to do whatever you can in your power to make yourself look good. Now some people need to realise that they do not need any more work on them to look good but some people might want to change that slight cleft or those crooked teeth.

Your teeth are an integral part of the most appealing part of your character: your smile. Now if you are past the first couple of stages in a downward cycle of your dental health or at least the cosmetic part of your dental health, you might say that there is no point in doing anything now, you might even lose your self-esteem, which is an integral part of you and your confidence. This could affect your productivity and your wellbeing as well as your quality of life.

Hope is never lost. Welcome to the world of dental prosthesis. Dental prosthesis or more commonly known as dentures are not only for the older generations. People are opting for dental prosthesis more every day as it offers a new fresh look that boosts your confidence levels sky high.

When some people neglect their teeth at times, tooth decay is bound to happen. This starts with the particles of food that are generally stuck between your teeth slowly starting to decay in your mouth.

When this food decays, there is a formation of bacteria, which feeds on this decaying food. Contrary to popular belief, no bacteria actually feed on the tooth itself, or rather the enamel of the tooth itself, but only on the food around in the beginning. The enamel of the tooth is the strong outer layer of your tooth, which withstands all the wear and tear that your eating habits may cause. Now when these bacteria feed on the decaying food stuck between your teeth they produce an acid as a waste product of their food consumption. This acid is highly corrosive to the enamel layer of our teeth.

Therefore, this acid is the thing that actually destroys the tooth that is being decayed. After a while of this neglected decay, the tooth becomes decayed enough for the bacteria to start feeding on. The acid produced now just speeds up the process until the decay reaches the root of your tooth, you have the unbearable pain of the bacteria attacking the blood, and nerve rich root of your tooth.

At this stage, there is not much you can do rather than to take the remains of the decayed tooth out, and do a root canal procedure. So now, you are left with a gap for a tooth or a bunch of teeth.

Some people may fall prey to tooth decay with no fault of theirs due to genetic reasons. Weak gums or similar issues are genetically transmitted and affect a small population of people but rather seriously, causing premature tooth decay or falling off, of teeth due to weak roots. This too leaves nasty gaps in the smile.

Yet other people suffer from weak roots either due to genital factors or just due to the food intake and lack of certain types of nutrients in their diet. This leads to teeth becoming weak and shaky and finally falling out. This too leaves gaps in the jawline.

Dental prosthesis allows you to cover this gap up in such a way that it looks like you have new teeth there by affixing artificial ones there.

The two types of dental prosthesis are Removable and Fixed dental prosthesis.

As the name suggests, removable dental prosthesis can be removed and replaced at will by the person and can be easily cleaned outside the mouth if required. Fixed dental prosthesis on the other hand cannot be removed by the person and is fixed in the mouth.

Now the main types of dental prosthesis are Partial dental prosthesis and Complete dental prosthesis.

Partial dental prosthesis is for people who have lost a tooth or two and would like to replace just those few teeth that are missing. This allows people to replace a damaged part of the teeth without disturbing the other teeth in the mouth. Of course, teeth that lie just beside the gaps or area to be repaired are used as support for the dental prosthesis that is fitted into the gaps.

Complete dental prosthesis is for people who want to replace all the teeth in the moth with artificial dentures. This type of dental prosthesis takes longer to install into the mouth than the other kind but ensures that the wait is well rewarding. This too comes in two types: the type you see in the movies that older people use and take out in the night to drop in that glass of water, then the type that is permanently installed in the mouth. This can be done with bone grafts and other methods, which will allow the dentist to firmly secure the complete dental prosthesis on your jaw.

Whatever type of dental prosthesis you intend to get to enhance your look and smile, do remember that it will take you a while to adjust to the new set of teeth in your mouth. Also, know that these teeth are definitely making you look better and that you should now feel better about yourself and your confidence level is going to increase rapidly now.

So do not hesitate to smile anymore, let the world witness that mile long grin on your face.
